Champion in the Classroom
Corran College
Art Winner
Congratulations to Diana Ford, 5th year, who is a national winner in the “Green Schools Art Competition”. Diana attended a reception in Dublin, accompanied by her mother and Ms Hoare, on Tuesday 24th April to accept he prize. She was presented with a new bicycle and helmet. Thank you to Mrs. Regan and Ms Hoare for all their advice and encouragement.
Cookery Club
First and second year students attended an after school Cookery Club in Corran College on Tuesday last. The Cookery club is organized by Ms Gaughan and will operate for six consecutive weeks. Thank you to Sligo School Completion Programme for funding this project.
Football Trip
Mr. McGovern is currently putting together a proposal for a football trip to Manchester for the next year. The trip will include attending a premiership game featuring Manchester United or Manchester City, a tour of Old Trafford and a full day in Alton Towers Theme park.
LCA Cake Sale
Leaving Certificate Applied students held a successful cake sale in the school on Monday 23rd April. The advertising, planning and organization of the event formed part of an LCA task.
An Gaisce
Three brave fourth year students, namely, Ciara Scanlon, Chloe Scanlon and Katie McMorrow, together with Ms Kinsella, endured torrential rain and high winds on a 20km walk and in the Lough Talt region on April 17th last. After completing the walk, the group pitched their tents and “wrapped up” for the night. This camping and trekking exercise fulfilled the Adventure section of the President’s Award. Well done to all involved.
Extra Maths
Mr. Joseph Dolan is providing additional after school tuition in mathematics for third year students. This is proving to be invaluable as students continue to revise and prepare for the Junior Certificate examinations.

Examinations
Well done to our third and fifth year students who have acquitted themselves very well in their Home Economics practical’s and French orals respectively.
PLC Enrolment
PLC enrolment for the 2012/2013 academic year took place on Thursday 26th April last. Any prospective student who was unable to make it on the night can contact the school for information and application forms.
Track and Field
Anyone interested in competing in Track and Field events can give their name to Ms Kinsella. This is one of the remaining sporting events on the school calendar.
