Open Day and Open Night

Coláiste Iascaigh will be holding its Open Day and Open Night on January 26th. During Open Day 6th Class students from our local schools will be invited to visit the school and take part in a range of classes and experience what it is like to be a student at our school.
Our Open Night offers parents the opportunity to visit the school and see our facilities, meet the teachers and ask any questions that they might have. Enrolment forms are also available on the night. All parents are welcome to attend. Further information can be received by contacting the school or visiting our website at www.colaisteiascaigh.scoilnet.ie.

Work Experience
LCVP students are undertaking work experience as part of the Link Modules programme, beginning on Monday 30th January. Students have chosen a variety of settings where they will be able to experience the world of work, while also gaining valuable information about their chosen careers.

Mock Examinations
Junior and Leaving Certificate students are preparing for mock examinations that will take place in the school starting on 30th January 2012. All students are encouraged to prepare well and study for the upcoming examinations.
Let Programme
Some of our 1st year students accompanied by Ms Cawley have just returned from their second trip to the Share Centre in Co. Fermanagh as part of the LET Programme. The programme is a cross border project with our school linked with two schools from Northern Ireland. Students took part in a range of business exercises including money management and budgeting as well as a number of outdoor activities. They really enjoyed the experience and cannot wait to their third and final trip in March.
School tour to Rome
After much planning the departure date for our tour to Rome is fast approaching. We plan to depart on Feb 9th 2012 for 3 nights. During our trip away we plan to take in all the sights in Rome, a day trip to Mount Vesuvius and the city of Pompeii. We also plan to take in a Serie A match, a pizza making class and a trip to the catacombs.

Boys County Gaelic match
On Friday 13th Jan, four of our senior boys travelled to Riverstown GAA park to play with Sligo County VEC schools team in a game against Leitrim. Cormac Hallinan played a good game at wing back, while Storm Mc Donald played at centre back for the first half of the game. Barry Gillespie and Gavin Kupczak were among the subs on the day. Leitrim won the game with 3 points to spare.
Gaelic training continues on Wednesdays for all boys with games coming up soon.
