ALEC
ALEC provides support for adults who are experiencing difficulty with reading, writing, spelling, maths and basic computers. Learners can work on one-to-one basis or in small groups.
Classes are part-time and tuition times are arranged as far as possible to suit the needs of the learner.
Tuition is provided by trained tutors in a friendly and informal atmosphere.
The Service is free and confidential.
Certification:
Participants can learn at their own pace and progress to certification level (FETAC/Junior Certificate) if desired.
Specific Programmes
- ITABE: Courses run for 14 weeks, 6 hours per week and offer adults the opportunity to improve their basic skills at a more intensive level,
- Workplace Basic Education: ALEC works with the Local Authority and FAS to deliver basic education programmes.
- ESOL English for Speakers of Other Languages: A wide range of English Language classes are on offer.
- ADULT LITERACY TUTOR TRAINING - we run a twelve-week training course for adults wishing to volunteer as Literacy Tutors. For more information contact Esther Hoad on 071 91 38415 or email estherhoad@gmail.com
