North Connaught College News
Post date: 21-Sep-2011The new year has started for adults taking courses at North Connaught College - passers by may have noticed our new entrance taking shape which will be safer for students and residents alike. A busy induction week took place last week with everyone taking part in a series of workshops on topics such as : what kind of learner am I?, working in groups, decision making, and listening skills. Enjoyable activities such as a table quiz and a "treasure hunt" activity allowed people to meet and get to know each other.

Trad for Trocaire
Post date: 6-Sep-2011The second annual 'Trad for Trocaire' was launched recently and musicians and venues across Co. Sligo are being asked to get involved by organising a session for Trocaire from 22-28 September to raise money for Trocaire projects worldwide.
Last year over 400 sessions took place across Ireland and beyond, in Britain, the US and Australia.
'Trad for Trocaire' is being backed by some of Ireland's biggest trad stars including Steve Wickham, Moya Brennan, Sharon Shannon and Finbar Furey.As we have so many talented musicians here in Co Sligo VEC we are organising a number of lunchtime sessions in our schools and centres across the county to make our contribution to Trocaire.
Sligo VEC's Trad for Trocaire session will be held in the Harp Tavern on Wednesday 28th of September at 1 pm.
