  • Sligo VEC collaboration with the Blue Raincoat Theatre Company

    Students on the Level 5 and Level 6 Childcare courses in Ballinode College of Further Education and North Connaught College in Tubbercurry are currently being trained in communication skills & acting skills by actors from the Blue Raincoat Theatre company in Sligo.  The first workshop was held last week in The Factory Performance Space on Quay Street. The students worked on scenes from Alice In Wonderland and The Mad Hatters Tea-Party.  This is just one of our ongoing innovative initiatives in Co Sligo VEC.

  • William Butler Yeats was born in Dublin in 1865, but spent most of his childhood in County Sligo. He is one of Ireland's best-known poets. In December 1923, he was awarded the Nobel Prize for literature. He is buried in Drumcliffe, Co Sligo
  • Truskmore Mountain is the highest peak in Co Sligo.Truskmore lies between Sligo and Leitrim and is 2,113 feet high. It can be found in the Dartry Mountains area and is the 201st highest mountain in Ireland.
